Vision
To inspire a love for learning Mathematics and to nurture persevering, diligent, and resourceful problem-solvers.
Mission
To develop confident and self-directed learners.
The Mathematics Department believes that everyone has the potential to succeed in Mathematics. Regardless of starting points, our teachers maintain high expectations for all students, providing support and empowerment to help them reach their fullest potential. Our curriculum fosters problem-solving abilities, digital literacy, and self-directedness, emphasizing critical thinking to connect mathematical concepts to real-world applications. Through this journey, Bukit Viewans gain mathematical confidence and competence, appreciating the relevance of Mathematics in their lives.
Key Programmes and Achievements
Applied Learning Week 2025
S3 Math Mission Its Possible
In this interactive group activity, students become codebreakers on a mission to crack codes and uncover digits. Working collaboratively, they solve real-world math puzzles across different stations—including the library, canteen, and AVA room—using skills in geometry, percentages, algebra, and more. It’s a fun, immersive way to apply mathematical thinking, build teamwork, and make learning unforgettable!

S2 Data Handling Performance Task
In this real-world task, students take on the role of young statisticians. They design and conduct surveys, organise data using Google Sheets, and present their findings through appropriate graphs such as pie charts, bar graphs, and pictograms. Working in teams, they draw meaningful conclusions from the data and reflect on how data can be used—or misused—to influence opinions. The task builds students’ analytical thinking and communication skills in a fun and practical way.

S2 Financial Literacy Workshop
Through this hands-on workshop, students learn essential money management skills to make informed financial decisions. They explore real-life scenarios involving budgeting, saving, needs vs wants, and the power of compound interest. Interactive activities and role-playing games help students develop financial responsibility and understand the long-term impact of their choices. The workshop equips them with practical life skills to navigate their future with confidence.

The World is Our Classroom – Learning from URA
Students gained real-world insights into how Mathematics is used in urban
planning through a sharing session by an officer from the Urban Redevelopment
Authority (URA). From map scales to data analysis and modelling, the session
showed how math shapes the way our city is designed and developed.
